Quota Share Reinsurance

« Back to Glossary Index

Quota share reinsurance is a type of proportional reinsurance where the insurer (the “ceding company”) and the reinsurer agree to share a fixed percentage of premiums and losses.

How It Works: If an insurer cedes 40% of a quota share treaty, the reinsurer receives 40% of the premiums and pays 40% of all claims.
